About us
We, Jeremy and Avril, have both travelled widely in the Far East, Europe and Canada. Jeremy is an Art teacher and a practising artist, exhibiting yearly in local exhibitions. Avril has been a teacher in a technical college and also has 11 years experience working in broadcasting. We are also both qualified to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL). We opened the bed and breakfast at "Les Petites Collines" in 2004. Quiet and comfort are our watchwords and our many visitors always comment on the hours of peaceful slumber afforded.
We specialise in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language and offer intensive courses both to adults and young students. Jeremy and Avril can also offer you a tailormade course in French or a course in painting to suit your needs.
There is a large garden with several verandahs where you can picnic, read, paint, relax in peace. The garden is at your disposal. We also have a barbecue which you are welcome to use. We invite donkey and dog stay-overs.
The house is on a subsidiary route for the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage and often a pilgrim finds a welcoming sojourn where they can put their tired feet under the table.
During our years operating the chambres d'hôtes, we have had a diversity of visitors including Serena II, a donkey, who was transporting the luggage of an elderly couple who were walking from St Etienne to Chaise Dieu and back – rather reminiscent of “Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes” by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Painters, authors, charity solo cyclists, cycling clubs, motocross, wedding guests, film and theatre producers, actors, parents of a famous children's illustrator - all have been our guests.
